Shades of Grey. The title scrawled rather carelessly across the front cover of a composition book belonging to one Warren James of Disturb the Peace. Why does the drummer have a composition book? Well, it's certainly not to keep names and phone numbers - though there are a few scribbled haphazardly on random pages, along with a page of wishes from family and friends before leaving on tour. No. This composition book would be where he writes little tidbits of poetry - or well, usually they end up like songs, though some, like the above, stay as simply four lines of verse, never to be fleshed out into anything special. Within the binding of this, and several other similarly titled comp. books are memories, emotions, and even, in some cases, sounds put to words. Just...don't pick it up and look without permission. He's not too fond of that.
Yeah, so he named his drum kit. Wanna make something of it? He has named every kit he's ever had, since his first, which was some cheap toy piece of crap his mom bought him for Christmas when he was tiny. His current tour kit, is named Heather, and the kit he left at home, is Shelly....and yes, he does, in fact, happen to lean down, and tell Shelly goodbye when he leaves for tour, he leans down, and tells Shelly he's going to cheat on her with Heather, and laughs. He really doesn't care what anyone else thinks. Nope. Totally doesn't care if anyone thinks he's nuts for naming his drums...an no, he has never dated either a Shelly, or a Heather.
In War's mind, his bandmates are his brothers, and maybe, just maybe, that's a symptom of his nature - the guy is really way too kind hearted for his own good. Heart too big. Way too generous and caring, at least with people on his good side. If it wasn't for Disturb the Peace, he would definitely not be around today. Yeah....let's just say his policy, sexuality wise of trying anything at least once used to branch into most other things in his life. Party meant party hard and he just recently stepped into recovery...about a year and a half ago...for a girl, who left him, because he wasn't willing to give up every single thing he ever tried, because frankly, he likes some of it too much - but he is in recovery, and that's saying something, isn't it? He wouldn't be, if not for his brothers. They gave him something to recover for - music.
So, when people talk about his effing jackets, I'm not just talking about the fact that the guy probably has about nine million of them. No, I'm also talking about the fact that the guy usually wears them when he's going out to score - so if you see him in one, he's probably looking for someone to have some fun with. Yes. That's what I mean. Wonderful, isn't it. For a while, he laid off with the jackets - for a certain already mentioned girl, but this tour, he has several packed. Go figure.
Inside the mind of Warren James is a rather dangerous place - at least for everyone but Warren. It's a veritable war zone behind those blue eyes, mostly because of the fact that when he decided to go into recovery, he decided to do so without the aid of therapy or rehab. This isn't to say he quit cold turkey. No, he's been weaning himself off of everything, but his mind is still not at peace, at all, unless he's in his own personal euphoria, which would be anything involving music, particularly playing for the fans.
To say he is reserved would be a lie, but this tour, anyone who's seen him in the past will notice something different. His friends have probably already noticed it, and may have questioned him on it. The filterless man is quieter. His enthusiasm is still there, but he's more prone to gazing off into space and going quiet than he used to be. Maybe someone put something in his water bottle, but the change can be unnerving at times. He's still filterless, though, so don't get any ideas. He doesn't really stop himself from saying things that he thinks. He doesn't see a point in it.
Ultimately, he's just waiting for the storm to come, because something has to happen, right? Sure, it's a tour, but....even still, to him, things are quiet."There was once a time in my life
