darling, close your eyes [style=font-family: courier new; font-size: 9px; text-transform: uppercase; letter-spacing: 2px; margin-top: -3px;]i've been having this dream that we can fly [/style] [atrb=border, 0, true] [/style][style=background-color: #2f364f; height: 50px; width: 200px; margin-top: 5px;] | [atrb=border, 0, true] Mortified wasn't a large enough word to describe what Olivia felt the morning after her drunk night with Abby. Not only was it the fact that she had woken up with a skull splitting headache and a stomach that refused to settle for much of the day, her friend hadn't hesitated to fill Olivia in on all the ridiculous things she'd done over the night. Including making a inappropriate and suggestive phone call to Daniel Archer. Even if Abby hadn't told her, when Olivia had looked at her phone, she had seen that she had called him in the middle of the night, and although she couldn't remember it completely at first, Abby's narrative managed to fill in most of the blanks. But that only made Olivia feel worse and concreted her belief that telling anyone about her dreams, sex fantasies or otherwise, was not a good idea.
Along with her embarrassment, Olivia was also finding it hard to come to terms with the fact she was attracted to Daniel, who she had spent the most part of the tour feeling irritated at. Vaguely, she was wondering if she had been the whole time, or if this was a new development, something that had resulted from her racy dream and overactive imagination. Either way, Olivia wasn't quite sure how to feel about it. On one hand, she already had a boyfriend who she adored (for the most part, anyway) and, despite wanting to end things on some occasions, Olivia could never intentionally hurt him. But, of course, on the other, some small, daring part of Olivia wanted to embrace the attraction to the irritating bodyguard and see what he was like between the sheets. In the struggle to find middle ground, Olivia's brain had settled for denial; she was not attracted to Daniel Archer, the phone call had never happened and her dream was merely a result of not getting any combined with the fact she could not get the mental image of his stupid, arrogant smirk out of her head. Simple as that.
Still, nothing could have prepared herself for the invitation to coffee. She had hoped that, like usual, Daniel would have respected her privacy outside of chatting backstage, but apparently, her drunk dialling had broken down some kind of unspoken agreement between them. With Abby's encouraging, Olivia agreed to meet him, completely unsure of what to expect. Was he going to try to talk about what had happened? Or was he just being his usual annoying, but kind, self, inviting her out for coffee the afternoon after she'd been drinking herself stupid? Either way, a coffee was exactly what Olivia needed, even if she didn't quite know how she was going to handle the situation as a whole.
Thankfully, the local coffee house was only a short walk from the hotel Olivia was currently camped out in, and after saying goodbye to a sleepy Rory who was still recovering from his latest night shift, Olivia had decided to walk. It was quite a nice day out, so Olivia was glad she'd had the sense to bring her sunglasses with her, both to shield her eyes from the sun, and to protect them from the painfully bright day. It had been years since she felt so hungover and completely disgusted with herself, but Olivia wasn't going to let that hold her back. Not today.
Upon arriving at the Starbucks, Olivia saw no sign of Daniel. Breathing a short sigh of relief, she sat herself at one of the outside tables, wanting to bask in the sun for a few moments to pull herself together. Sure, it was incredibly bright outside, but it was also quite hot, which made her feel slightly better as it warmed her skin. Sure, she was still queasy, and she wasn't sure if she could stomach an entire coffee, but being in the sun helped Olivia. It reminded her of home, and sitting on her apartment's balcony in Los Angeles when she was desperately trying to destress at the end of a long work day. This thought comforted her and strangely, she felt at ease. Leaning back into her seat, she closed her eyes, waiting for Daniel to show himself. |

The phone call itself was a bit shocking, but she realize who was on the other end just added to the shock. He had never really thought that Olivia would take the time to phone him, let alone phone him in the middle of the night. However, when it became evident that she was drunk, Daniel figured that she just wasn't in the right state of mind and didn't know what she was doing. That was when she turned the whole thing around and started confessing how she had a dream about him, and it wasn't the crazy weird kind of dream ever. It was the type of dream that Daniel never thought Olivia would have of him but he couldn't say that he was disappointed. In fact, he had been quite amused and excited about it, until she asked him if he would want her, if she didn't have a boyfriend. That was when things got awkward and the conversation ended quickly. Daniel would never, ever tell Olivia how he felt about her if she was in a relationship; that wouldn't be fair to anyone, especially Rory. He hoped that he wouldn't find out about the call, seeing as Daniel quite liked his job and, y'know...life. He didn't want to fuck anything up especially when the guy was the size Rory was.
The next morning he decided he needed to talk to Olivia about what had happened and get grounds on it. He didn't like that she had called drunk and all he wanted to know was if she felt the same way when she was sober. At the back of his mind, it was screaming at him to not do it, that she probably didn't even remember the night and that he was being stupid. But his curiosity and the butterflies in his stomach told him to keep going and call the girl. When he did, he was surprised she picked up and actually accepted his offer to go and grab a coffee. If Daniel knew anything about hangovers, it was that coffee was probably one of the best cures out there. Starbucks was the first place he thought of, and after a quick walk around the block and down the street, he was walking into the most popular coffee shop in north america (if not the world).
Looking around the shop, he tried to catch a glimpse of the girl that he was supposed to be meeting here. He wouldn't be surprised if she had stood him up, but as he looked towards the back of the shop, he saw her and a soft smile formed on his face. Walking over to her, he sat across from her and grinned softly, "Well good morning sunshine." he teased before he chuckled, "What can I get you? An espresso, mocha? What?" he asked. She looked like a mess but at the same time looked just as good as she usually did, which threw Daniel off a little. He never really liked to let his emotions get the better of him, but he had always been somewhat expressive and it too a lot for him to keep his emotions in check. He had to keep telling himself that she probably forgot and that this coffee invitation was just random and weird in her mind. Daniel really hoped that wasn't the case, but he knew that it probably was. Putting the equation together in his head: the random call, her being wasted, he talking about dreaming having sex with him, it all had to be because she got drunk. The realization was somewhat sour and he wasn't a fan of it; he hoped that maybe she would blurt out feelings that she was having for him and maybe she was even thinking about leaving Rory, but that was absolutely ridiculous and Dan knew that. So why did he invite her? Why did he even bother? Because he liked her, a lot and his brain had lost all logic. It was sad and pathetic and Daniel hated himself for it. At the same time, though, he had to keep his positive outlook up, seeing as he hated being hurt to the point where he always repressed any negative feelings to the point where he would eventually blow. darling, close your eyes [style=font-family: courier new; font-size: 9px; text-transform: uppercase; letter-spacing: 2px; margin-top: -3px;]i've been having this dream that we can fly [/style] [atrb=border, 0, true] [/style][style=background-color: #2f364f; height: 50px; width: 200px; margin-top: 5px;] | [atrb=border, 0, true] Acting on impulse was something Olivia tried desperately hard not to do. At times, her job called for it, but there were boundaries. She couldn't just do whatever the hell she wanted, basically. Throughout her life, Olivia had always been one to think through her actions, almost to the point that she was able to step outside herself and predict exactly how she would turn out by the end of it. Needless to say, the phone call to Daniel was not planned. Stupid stuff like that always seemed to happen when Olivia was impulsive. And now, here she was, doing the exact same thing again. She'd arrived at Starbucks without thinking about what she was doing, and Olivia felt unprepared. With no idea what to expect, Olivia was forced to play things by ear. And that was something she was definitely not good at.
Sunning herself as she was, it took Olivia far too long to realize Daniel had arrived, and she didn't realize he had spotted and approached her until Olivia had been greeted. The sound of his voice made her bolt up, her eyes looking wildly around for him until they came to rest on him. Thankfully, Olivia was still wearing her sunglasses, so most of her over the top reaction would be lost on Daniel, but still she ran a hand through her hair. Just looking at him sent a blush rising into her cheeks, and Olivia's stomach sank as she realized just how difficult this was going to be. Olive had always been taught to be honest and value honesty in others, but for the most part, the fact that she often spoke the truth was because she couldn't lie. About anything. Even something as minor as eating the last cookie and blaming it on her older brother (as she had when she was younger) was beyond her. Furious with herself, Olivia tried to calm down, to act normal, but it wasn't working. She couldn't even bring herself to act as cold as she normally did. And the stupid smirk on Daniel's face wasn't helping. So, Olivia settled for indifferent. Between her pounding headache, and her nerves, she was hoping it would work.
"Morning." she managed to get out, her voice laden with exhaustion. In all honesty, Olivia just wanted a coffee and to get out of there again so she could hide away in her hotel room until everyone had forgotten all about her and her drunk dialling. But that would be impossible, because Olivia was sure she'd never live it down, and was certain she couldn't keep herself away from her job for more than an hour. She nodded at first when Daniel offered to buy her a coffee, heavily distracted in her thoughts, before she registered what he had said. "Oh, no. I can buy my own. It's no trouble." Getting to her feet, Olivia grabbed her bag and made her way towards the counter, expecting Daniel would follow her, as per usual. After last night, Olivia definitely did not want Daniel buying her a coffee. Plus, she was more than capable of paying for it herself.
Arriving at the counter, Olivia ordered her espresso, asking them to put an extra shot or two in there to make it stronger. She'd never been a big fan of the taste of coffee, but it always had such a strong effect on her. Within moments of sipping this strong coffee, Olivia knew she'd feel much more awake, and more able to listen to whatever it was Daniel wanted to say. Whilst waiting for her coffee, Olivia did her best not to look at Daniel, but it was remarkably difficult. In the end she gave up, and just watched him. He looked relatively unfazed by everything that had happened, but then again, Olivia didn't think she'd ever seen Daniel being worried about anything. All in all, he looked... normal. And because Olivia felt like she was falling to pieces on the inside, Daniel's being so composed made her feel a million times worse. The instant she thought Daniel might have caught her looking at him, Olivia turned her head, once again thankful for her sunglasses. A second later, her name was called, and she went up to grab her hot drink, heading back to the table without waiting for Daniel to give herself another moment alone.
Seating herself again, Olivia took a long sip of the hot drink. She burnt her tongue, but she didn't care. Her nerves were overactive, and if she didn't get some caffeine into her system, she'd panic. That was how it worked, right? Olivia had never found biology interesting, but she wanted adrenalin, without the panicking part. Taking off her sunglasses, Olivia rubbed at her eyes, before taking another long drink. Thankfully, by the time Dan had seated himself once more, Olivia had composed herself a little more. And that was when she began to lie. "So, what are we doing here?" she asked, as innocently as she could despite the fact she was hungover, and her nerves hadn't completely calmed down. Of course, she knew exactly why Daniel had invited her here, but he didn't know that. And she was determined not to let him know that, either. "Is there something wrong with backstage? Or your job? Because if it's the latter, I think you should take it up with Roaches' manager, not me." With that, Olivia gave him a long glance, before taking another drink of her coffee. She hoped to God, that for once in her life, she was a convincing liar. |
