WE OWN THE SKY Having an entire day off whilst touring was rare, Rosie was beginning to discover. Even being part of a opening band didn't guarantee her much time to slack off and do her own thing. So when she'd woken up early and knew she didn't have to be back at the tour grounds until later that evening, she'd automatically started planning everything she was going to do that day. And like always, Rosie was being terribly optimistic with her plans. She spent the entire morning tidying up the bus, after promising all of her bandmates she would, and had filled almost two entire garbage bags with old food, empty bottles and things Rosie honestly couldn't place. After only a couple of weeks of touring, Murder Mayhem's bus had accumulated a shitload of rubbish, and Rosie knew that she was only partially to blame.
Once her tidying was completed, it was well after midday, which left little time for anything else she had planned that day. In a bit of a slump, she'd just sat down to get her daily gaming fix when her phone buzzed. It took her only a second to read it, and shut down her Xbox again. Apparently there was a carnival in town, and Rosie wasn't going to miss it.
As she got changed out of her sweat pants, Rosie flicked messages to almost every she knew on tour, asking them to come with her. But almost everyone replied with a negative. Jess had plans with Thad, Tay was busy, Bronx didn't reply... It seemed no one had time for her that afternoon. Unperturbed, Rosie kept staring at her contact list, hoping something miraculous would happen. And it kind of did.
Jimi.. of course! As she stared at her phone, his name kind of leapt out at her, and Rosie was surprised she had missed it the first time she had looked through her phonebook. She and Jimi hardly shared a long friendship, but he was fun and since there was no one left to share the carnival with, he was worth a shot. Hurriedly, she texted him, telling him there was a carnival and informing him (in very nice way, of course) that he was going to meet her there in ten minutes. Without waiting for a reply, Rosie brushed her hair into something that appeared a little more tamed, and walked out the door. She supposed that if he didn't show for whatever reason, trekking around the carnival all by herself wouldn't be so bad...
Even so, upon arriving at the fair grounds, Rosie waited outside, her eyes scanning the crowds for any sign of a familiar face. It was almost impossible to see everyone, even when Rosie stretched up on her toes. But she persisted. Even though she barely reach average height when on tiptoes, from where she was standing, she had a fairly good view of the crowd and they of her. so after scrounging up some clean clothes, jimi changed (very carefully, considering he didn't want to completely mess up his mohawk) and started to get ready to head out to meet her. because of the time factor, jimi only spent enough time fixing his hair to make sure that the mohawk would remain defying gravity, but the spikes were a little messy, and drooped forward. it worked, though, and it just gave him a bit more of a stylish look to his hair. he had a feeling that rosie might guess it was because he was in a rush to see her, but it wasn't like he could really deny it with a straight face; he'd just have to be honest and tell her that he hadn't wanted to keep her waiting.
with a lit smoke and a monster tucked under his arm for the walk, jimi set off in the direction of the amusement park, choosing to take the element of surprise route, and not bother texting her to state he was on his way.
by the time he reached the fair grounds, his smoke was long gone, along with the energy drink. he squinted his eyes behind his ray-ban's, searching for that very familiar and very vibrant hair colour. with his height, it wasn't the easiest to try and maneuver his eyesight around people, but he spotted her before she could catch a glimpse of him. at least, that's what he was keeping his fingers crossed for as he moved with the flow of the crowd in order to come up behind her. he used the noises around them to mask any out of place footsteps she might've heard otherwise, and slowly crept up behind the petite woman.
without warning, he grabbed her gently around the waist in a bit of a hug and lifted her off her feet, pulling her into a small spin. not wanting to make her dizzy, or get an elbow to the side of the head, jimi set her down relatively soon after he'd surprised her, his chuckle ringing out amongst the voices hopefully giving away his identity. "sorry," he mused out between breaths, still chuckling a bit. "i saw an opportunity and i couldn't pass it up." glancing over his shoulder towards the entrance gate, he turned around so that his back was facing her, and did a piggy-back motion with his hands.
"you haven't been waiting for me for long, right?" he asked, glancing over his shoulder at her as he approached the pay booths. "it's all the 'hawk's fault."

WE OWN THE SKY Rosie kept her eyes peeled, the stretching to see over people was getting a bit hard to do. Eventually, she gave it up, relying on her hair to stand out. She knew that, despite her height, it was a beacon, and Jimi, despite his own relatively short height, should be able to see her. Then again, there was always the chance that he might not show up... Rosie decided she'd wait a few moments longer before heading in by herself. Making new friends could always prove to be fun...
As soon as she'd had the thought, Rosie felt arms wrap around her waist and spin her around, causing her to emit a squeal of laughter. Assuming she knew who they were, Rosie didn't kick outThe chuckling gave away the identity of her assailant even before Rosie's feet had hit the ground. Turning around, she looked up into the smiling face of Jimi with her own grin. 'Oh, it's fine.' Rosie said, trying to slow her heart beat. Despite the smile on her face, it had still been a bit of a scare, and she took a moment to catch herself. 'I'll just get you back later.' Rosie's voice was light and cheery, but she meant it. Whether it was that day, or next week, Jimi was going to pay. She launched herself onto Jimi's back, draping her arms loosely around his neck. As tempting as pretending to strangle him was, Rosie rather liked piggy backs. Even from Jimi, who was only a couple of inches taller than her. She was careful not to ruin Jimi's hair, knowing how she herself felt when people mussed hers, and rested her chin on his shoulder. 'No, not really.' she said in response to his question. It had felt like a long time, but it was probably only Rosie's anticipation that had made it seem so. She'd always been terribly impatient. 'You and your hair.' she teased gently, looking at the droopy looking mohawk. Lifting her hand up slowly, she touched the end of it, giggling when it fell back into place. In truth, she thought Jimi's hawk was pretty darn amazing. She was always in awe about how it defied gravity like it did, and was slightly tempted to do it to her own red locks. Perhaps she'd ask him to do it for her one day... As they approached the pay booths, Rosie reached into her bag, and pulled out her wallet. Before Jimi could protest, she handed over some cash, and received their tickets in return, in addition to a small map telling them where everything was. 'You can buy me food later.' Rosie said, expecting Jimi to insist he pay her back. 'Anyway, where to first, mighty steed?' Rosie asked, reaching over to hold the map out in front of them so Jimi could see too. once she had jumped onto his back, jimi hitched his hands underneath her legs to keep her stabilized and started to walk towards the main gates. it was a natural response to react this way around rosie for some reason, and whenever someone mentioned that there might be something a little more than friendship there, jimi'd always blush and laugh it off in his socially awkward way. but it had never really occurred to him how much they seemed more than friends with how comfortable they were. even when she situated herself so her chin was on his shoulder; all he could do was glance at her and let his grin widen. "i spend less time on my hair than a lot of women i know," he was quick to defend himself playfully. "and no one's as bad as danny for standing in front of the mirror." the feel of her hand playing with his hair made his breath catch in his throat a bit, just because of how calming and nice it felt, but he made sure to remain very conspicuous about it.
he was so distracted from the ghost feeling of her fingers lingering within his hawk that he hadn't even realized she'd reached into her bag, pulled out her wallet, and paid for both of their entry. at first all he could do was stand there, holding her, dumbfounded as he tried to catch his brain up to speed with what his eyes just saw. when he finally did, rosie was already talking, and he had completely no say in the fact that she just paid for his way in. it didn't make him feel any better than she was already telling him that he could make it up to her for himself by paying for food later. without a response, he puffed out his lips in a pout and breathed heavily, though it was all for show. "you win this time, ma'am. but don't get used to that victorious feeling."
letting his pout wash away, replacing it with a thoughtful one, jimi let his eyes scan over the map as he moved out of the way of the line. it was a relatively large amusement park with a handful of actual roller coasters and other fast rides to choose from. "welp, since i'm leading, i guess that's for me to know you and to find out." casting another grin over his shoulder, he raised his eyes and set out in the direction of the park's supposed scariest ride. naturally, he used the map to get himself out of tight jams between picking left or right turns, but it wasn't a hard ride to locate with it towering over the entire fair grounds.
upon reaching the end of the line, jimi's grip got a bit more secure underneath her legs to ensure that if she didn't want to stand she didn't have to, and that if anyone tried to grab ahold of her, they wouldn't get her off his back. with fans these days, you never knew what kind of person you'd encounter, and thinking ahead was generally the best way to go out in public. "it's pretty big," he muttered to her, ignoring the few chuckles that went around the line when someone said 'that's what she said' soon after he spoke. "scared?"

WE OWN THE SKY Jimi defending his hair made Rosie laugh. It was probably true, Rosie spent quite a bit of time on her hair herself, but it could only be a fraction of what Jimi spent getting his hair into such an elaborate hairstyle every morning. She let out another quiet chuckle as Jimi mentioned Danny, Jessie's brother who she had met on occasion. "I bet," she agreed, still laughing. She tried to keep the majority of it in, just in case it made it difficult to carry her. "Still, I guess it's worth it, right?" Again she raised her hand to gently flick the end of the 'hawk. "It's so awesome..." Rosie breathed, her arm falling down to rest on Jimi's chest again. The last comment was more to herself than anything, but being situated on his back, there was no doubt that Jimi would hear her. A triumphant smile spread across Rosie's lips as Jimi conceded defeat. She truly didn't have a problem with him paying for her, but since she had invited him out, it only seemed fair for her to pay. Rosie had hardly given him any notice either. Frankly, in her opinion anyway, it would have been rude to force Jimi to pay for himself. After all, the entry fee hadn't been that expensive, considering. The park was a lot larger than Rosie had assumed it would be. "Okay~," she sang lightly as Jimi told her not to get used to winning. Even so her voice was still a little too proud at what she'd done, and she was rather lucky Jimi couldn't see the smugness written all over her face. Content to let Jimi do the walking and decide where they'd go first, Rosie shifted herself slightly, both to make herself more comfortable and to make it easier to carry her. Not that she'd ever been able to carry anyone because she was so slight in stature, but Rosie imagined that it'd be rather hard if they were fidgeting too much or sitting awkwardly. "Lead away then!" she called, resting her chin once again on his shoulder so she could see where they were going. Another reason she was content to let Jimi decide where to go was the fact Rosie was terrible when it came to directions. Maps were even worse. Knowing that he'd figure it out, Rosie just watched the other people they passed, a small, but content smile resting on her features. before she knew it, they'd arrive at the back of a line. She was grateful for Jimi's tightened grip on her legs as she turned to look up at the ride towering above them. Her eyes widened slightly, and for a moment she felt fear, but her lips parted in a manic smile. She loved rides like this. The anxiety before it, the exhilaration on it, and the pure adrenalin you could feel coursing through you after disembarking the carriage. Suddenly, Rosie got very excited. Jimi's words pulled Rosie's thoughts back to the ground, and she couldn't help but giggle a little along with many of the people around him. Maturity was not her strong point. "No! Of course I'm not scared." she said, perhaps too defensively and high-pitched to pass off as being completely unafraid. "Are you?" She turned the question around, genuinely curious. Perhaps if Jimi was scared, she could admit to being a little frightened too? Rosie was used to being reckless, but the enormous roller coaster before them dwarfed her. "It's okay if you are. You can hold my hand if it helps." She was teasing, of course, but if Jimi happened to take her up on her offer, Rosie wouldn't protest. She had a sneaking suspicion that holding hands with Jimi might help to calm her own anxiety, too. [/blockquote] [/div] WORDS 633 TAGGED JIMI/SIX NOTES LET'S DO IT. Even though he couldn't see her that well, the breathed sentence had his ego spiking rather triumphantly, and her small flick sent a bit of a shiver down his spine. luckily he was able to keep his cool about it, and continued on like he hadn't felt a bit of a stir in his stomach.
with a little gratitude towards the fact that rosie was well in control of situating herself, meaning jimi didn't have to try and do it himself and accidentally touch something he wasn't supposed to, he listened to her command to lead the way like a noble stead would. the only difference is that he was more of a donkey noble stead, from the movie shrek, rather than an actual stallion mount. but he was alright with that; it meant he could communicate with his companion, right?
to say that he hadn't expected rosie to be scared would've been a lie. he thought that, maybe, they'd have that small sense in common. sure, jimi loved rides beyond belief, and he'd never pass up a chance to ride one unless he was physically incapable of doing so. but along with the excitement that came with the adrenaline was an equal amount of fear of the possibilities that could arouse while on the track, and way above anyone's comfort zone. plus, ever since he'd seen the movie zombieland, all he could really think about on height rides were zombies clustering below them, waiting for the ride to finish so the passengers could be devoured. (okay, that was a little far fetch, but this was also coming from a grown man who was scared of spiders.)
"uhh.." he started, glancing up at her the best he could briefly before casting his eyes back up to the track just in time to see one of the two carts go speeding by. "no, not really." he tried his best to lie, to cover up the fact that he wasn't as brave as she probably took him for, but that was the price you paid when you were a wimpy teddy bear. at her reassurance, and the offer to hold her hand if he was scared, jimi forced himself to laugh, figuring that she was just trying to make him feel better because she might be able to see through his denial. "whaaat? no, i'm okay. really. it's just physics and.. gravity, so. we'll be okay."
the line up, even though it appeared to be long, panned out rather quickly. with the amount of seats per car, it only took two more rounds of passengers to get on and off until their turn. and, naturally, when the gate was open to let people in to fill the car's waiting slots, jimi gunned it (stupidly) for the first one. he just made it, surprisingly, still carrying rosie the entire way. the couple that had been trying to get it was from the group that had snickered and made the 'that's what she said' comment. without really realizing it, jimi smirked triumphantly as he let rosie get her footing back before they were permitted access to their seats. glancing at her, all his excitement written on his face, the race to the front making him completely forget the fear he'd been feeling while waiting in anticipation.
the buzzer sounded, and the gates all flew open at the same time, letting the two people waiting in their designated slots to enter the cars of the ride. when jimi turned back to view them, his stomach instantly lurched, and if it weren't for the fact that rosie was behind him, waiting to get on, he would've needed a moment to catch his breath. instead, he trucked on, stepping into the car and sliding until he was in the farthest seat. after rosie had joined him in her seat, he his seat's holy shit bar in as tight as he could stand against his waist, locking himself in. swallowing, jimi looked out into the sunlight, letting his eyes trace the track as it curved upwards. he was starting to feel his stomach get antsy again, but this time it wasn't because of rosie. it was because his fear was seeping back into his bloodstream, and he really regretted beating the punk to the punch for the front car.
when the car started up, and began to climb the slope, jimi flinched from the sudden motion. with a breath of relief, realizing he wasn't dead in some mysterious malfunction, he opened his eyes and glanced towards rosie. since there was no sense in trying to deny something that was now physically obvious, he tried his best to smile at her through his heart beating in his ears. "h-hey rosie.. is that offer still valid?" he called over the sounds of the gears working beneath them, releasing his left hand from the bar at his waist to extend towards her to emphasize what he meant. rosie ○ 847 ○ outfit ○ sorry for the delay darlin'! ♥ |

WE OWN THE SKY A smirk spread across Rosie's face as Jimi insisted he was okay. "If you say so." she said, barely above a whisper, though, so she wasn't sure if he would hear her or not. She could tell, however, that he was a little frightened, which was a comfort all in itself. A brief pout crossed her features when Jimi declined her offer to hold her hand, but it was quickly replaced with a small smile as she adjusted herself once more, not too bothered. It was a little hard to hold his hand from up here anyway. Rosie was surprised that the line moved forward so quickly, and was even more shocked when Jimi made it for the front cart. He could move fast, even with Rosie on his back, and Rosie couldn't resist poking her tongue out at the people who they'd beat to the front, recognizing them as the ones who had laughed at her friend earlier. Dropping to her feet and making sure she wasn't going to fall over, Rosie let go of Jimi, waiting to be permitted access to the cart. When the gates flew open, Rosie sensed Jimi's slight hesitation and nudged him slightly, encouraging him to take his seat. Watching as he sat himself, Rosie clambered in after him, tapping her feet on the floor of the cart as the bar around them was lowered to their waists. Already, Rosie had started reassuring herself that everything would be fine, that being scared was ridiculous since there was nothing to be afraid of. Roller coasters didn't kill people, not unless you were playing that computer game that Rosie had loved when she was younger and accidentally managed to kill people by opening a poorly made track. She was wrapped up in the memories when the cart gave a jerk, and the clicking sound of the chains replaced every other thought in her head. Needless to say, Rosie's stomach began flipping the moment the car kicked into action. Her hands gripped the bar around her waist, turning her knuckles white, and, all of a sudden, they felt very clammy. But still, she wore a manic grin, already craving the adrenalin rush she knew was awaiting her once the ride was all said and done. It wasn't enough to erase her fear completely, but it certainly hoped to focus on that. She was surprisingly focused when Jimi asked her about the offer to hold his hand, taking her a moment to figure out what he was talking about. "Oh, of course, Jimi. Always." she chirped, her voice a little higher than normal, but still managing to return his smile convincingly. Without further hesitation, she unclasped the metal bar, lifted her hand and laced her fingers through his, holding his hand tightly. They climbed higher and higher until even Rosie's smirk had faded away to little more than her lips pursed in concentration. Was it just her, or couldn't she breathe? Surely they were in a thinner atmosphere, right? She couldn't even see the ground from up here. To keep from falling prey to her overactive imagination, Rosie squeezed Jimi's hand gently. It reassured her a little, but added another worry to her list of current fears: Did Jimi notice how sweaty her hand was? But then finally, they reached the top, and considering they were at the front, Rosie had a nice view of the enormous drop they were about to plunge down. Confused about whether or not she wanted to see it, she covered her eyes with her free hand, only to peek through her fingers a moment later. She wasn't too sure how long they were suspended in limbo, not moving at the top of the steep drop, but it felt like forever. Rosie's heart was in her throat, and her hand was clutching at Jimi's incredibly tightly that she was fairly sure that she was cutting his circulation off. And then, they fell. Unable to help herself, Rosie threw her arms up in the air, her hand still holding Jimi's, letting out a loud scream as the air whipped past her face, her hair fanning out behind her. She couldn't even hear her own screaming as they plummeted downwards, only to twist up into a loop. While they were upside down, Rosie couldn't resist sneaking a look at Jimi, but soon after, she quickly lost track of what the roller coaster carriage was doing. They twisted left and right, looped again, or maybe twice more, Rosie wasn't sure. She was sure that she was screaming the enter time, until near the end she was completely hoarse and couldn't even hear herself anymore. Rosie had lost all sense of time when they pulled back into the station. Even when the carriage had come to the complete stop and the bar loosened around her, Rosie still didn't want to move. She felt like she was almost in shock, unable to move at all. But then her face cracked into a grin, and Rosie felt almost normal again. "Sorry," she apologized to Jimi, untangling her fingers from his and getting to her feet. She exited the car, standing by to wait for Jimi to follow suit. "Well..." she started as they made their way towards the exit. "That was a little scarier than I thought it would be." Rosie admitted, letting out a short laugh. "Fun, but scary." Grinning at Jimi, she nudged him with her elbow gently. "Where to next, Jimi?" After all the excitement, Rosie felt like a little downtime was in order, but she'd leave that up to Jimi. She was fairly certain she had given him the map anyway.
