As much as he didn't want to, he'd done it again; he'd stayed up all night to finish some paper work and didn't get a wink of sleep. He was kicking himself in the head now, seeing as he had to attend a meeting later in the day and din't have time for a nap - still, it was worth it to him. The paperwork was finished and he now felt as though he would be able to carry on with the rest of his day, worry free. Though, now was the time for someone muc more important (in his mind, at least) - coffee. Oh yes, that delicious beverage that jolted you awake for a few hours before causing you to crash completely into a deep sleep. However, Aengus decided that today he was going to be drinking nothing but coffee, seeing as he needed to stay awake all day, not just for a couple of hours. He knew it'd be tough, but it wasn't unlike anything he had managed to pull through before.
As he drove towards the coffee emporium, he somewhat questioned the safety of himself and those around him while he was behind the wheel. He could barely walk properly, let alone drive, but he had made it to his destination and was more that anxious to get his hands on a coffee. Sure, he probably could have made one at home, but he was far too tired to even think of doing such a thing. The young Scottish lad decided that pulling out a five dollar bill from his wallet was much easier than going through the necessary steps to brew coffee in the morning.
Walking up to the counter, he looked at the board before finally just stating that he wanted a black coffee with some space to put some cream and sugar. The small talk he created between himself and the barista was classic to Aengus' personality; always friendly, even when he could hardly put a sentence together. When the barista handed him a coffee, he thanked her, winked at her and placed the change in her hand, telling her not to spend it all in one place. With coffee in hand, he strutted over to a table, by one of the many windows in the shop, and took a seat, ready to enjoy his coffee in peace before getting anxious about his presentation. Lifting the coffee to his lips, he took a few gulps before setting it back down, playing with the cup warmer as he tried to keep himself awake until the caffeine started to kick in.

"ELLIE ELLIE SWEETHEART RUN, RUN GET AWAY NOW." She was frozen in fear. She knew this was a nightmare but it felt so real. Her body went flying through the air as the body in the bunk clutched onto the pillow. She could read the fear on her mother's face till her brother blocked the view, she knew what was exactly coming next and then she woke up. She propped herself up and tried to catch her breath. She slowly took deep breaths and ran a hand through her hair as she just sighed quietly. She hated sleeping just because of the nightmares. Shaking her head, the girl pushed herself out of her bunk, sliding towards the ground till she landed on her feet quietly. She thought she had heard someone leaving the bus but she wasn't quite sure and just went through her bag to pull on some clothes.
She wanted coffee and she certainly couldn't go out looking the way she was. So, a pair of jeans and a shirt would have to do. She knew exactly where she was going as she started to pack her purse with her much needed items, the pen and paper note pad, her wallet, cigarettes, lighter, phone. She didn't want to forget anything as she slipped on some flats and she was done. She had a choice, to drive or to take her long board and when she noticed that the keys were gone. She figured well, fuck it. Longboarding it was and she fished the board from under her pile of clothes in her bag and threw her bag over her shoulder as she stepped off the bus and started rolling away, towards the one place that she knew that served the best coffee.
She needed it to be honest. To get through life. She couldn't do anything without it. So the blond finally arrived there and tucked her longboard underneath her arm as she made her way up to the counter and online. She was trying to build up the courage to speak. Probably was going to be the only time she would speak today, considering she counted her words very well. When it was her turn, she forced a friendly smile to the girl behind the counter who probably already knew her order. "The normal I'm guessing?" Ellie nodded her head as the girl rang her up and she handed her the money that she already had in her pocket, because let's face it. She knew how much it was going to be. Once she got her hands around the coffee she went over to the little station and started putting in the obnoxious amount of sugar and milk and stirred it around, taking a sip before placing the cap on it and turned to see the manager of the band sitting at a table.
Well, it beat sitting alone, despite how much she valued solitude. Making her way over to him, she set her coffee down in the seat across and set the longboard propped up against the seat before digging out the paper notepad and pen, scribbling up early? down and pushing it towards him so he could read it. |

Ever since he had moved to be a manager for 'The Young Sound' from New York, he felt a sense of peace he hadn't managed to feel since he lived back with his family. As little money as the farm brought in, he could always count on the farm work to calm him and the sounds of the Scottish Highlands to relax his muscles and just thinking about nothing but the moment. Now a days, he rarely ever had those moments, if ever; he was far too busy planning meetings and setting up multi million dollar contracts to just stop and take a breath. Sometimes he could see himself working into the ground, like now, when he was almost too exhausted to put two sentences together - that was an interesting conversation wit ha barista if he ever heard one. But how else was he supposed to the get the band farther than this point? Not saying that the point they were at now was bad - rarely any bands make it this far. But still, they had potential and he wanted to see it happen.
He was also so tired that he almost didn't realize someone had just taken a seat across from him. Lifting his head, looked up and saw a very lovely looking girl standing in front of him, but he already knew just who she was. He had worked and spoke (if you could call it that) with Ellie on several occasions and knew that she very much a mute. He didn't mind though, he never judged nor did he ask what caused to be that way. She seemed like a very nice girl and, to be honest, she was very easy on the eyes in Aengus' opinion. When she slipped him the piece of paper, he looked at it and shook his head, looking up at her, "Och, no lass." he stated, his thick, scottish accent showing through, "That wuoulda required actually getting some sleep." he continued, giving her a soft chuckled before letting out a heavy sigh, "I havena slept a wink." he finished as he lifted his cup and brought it to his lips for a sip, "What about you, my dear? Ye seem up earlier than usual."

The thing about Ellie was that she made perfect comapny for someone who wanted to talk their little hearts out or someone who wanted to sit in silence. She felt bad for the people like her aunt who wanted her to talk. She did, at some points. They had figured she only said about fifty or sixty words a week, she had been quietly if you could call that making progress with phone calls from her friends and her aunt. She just quite wasn't ready to talk to the band. They would expect her to speak more and to be honest she wasn't quite sure she could handle that without having a full blown panic attack. She just liked staying silent, It was what she did best. Getting away from Connecticut helped. She wasn't near her brother who had be released. She was different. She didn't know if the band knew. Her father, a big record producer. One who had given her the company which she promptly handed over to the vice president, her dad;s best friend, his death was big and Ellie did everything to hide herself from it. Even though she was pretty sure touring wasn't exactly hiding it. She had been offered the drumming position before the band got started and turned it down to be a roadie. Her brother couldn't know where she was and she liked the backstage part better.
The small blonde watched the man before her, not in a creepy stalkerish way but in more of a observing way. She relied on body language and hand movements to put emotions in her words because getting that done on paper was quite hard. She didn't know if she ever spoken to him, let a word slip through her lips accidentally. To be honest her body reacted weirdly, like it wanted her to talk as of right now but she kept her mouth shut as she grabbed the paper back as she let out a soft sight. you could die from that you know she wrote as she stopped to think what excuse to throw him and she stared at him for a moment. The words working their way up her throat as she shoved them down and scribbled on the paper " just couldn't sleep i guess"" She wrote on the paper before looking back at him. If Ellie had been that type of girl who was forward she was pretty sure she'd hit on Aengus. But, she couldn't really. It was pretty hard. . |

It surprised Aengus just how coherent he was, even though his body was just not having any of it. The thought of getting up and going to his car was unspeakable and he shoved it to the back of his head. In fact, right now, his plan was to just stay in his seat at the coffee shop all day and have sever snoozes at small intervals until he was able to get up and out of his chair so that he could get to his car and drive back to the buses where he knew the girls would be waking up shortly. He also knew that some of them would be wondering where he was, seeing as he rarely ever left the bus. The thought of the girls made him shudder a bit, he had made the mistake of actually hooking up with a couple of them and now he felt like he couldn't be their manager anymore. He could only hope they knew what he was feeling and going through to make them happy. Besides, as much as he regretted it, he still enjoyed the girls' company and only hoped they didn't think it was anything more than it was, which was a fling.
Seeing Ellie was somewhat of a relief from his own thoughts, to be honest, and he welcomed her presence openly. It also distracted him from just how tired he actually was. He couldn't deny he had noticed Ellie when she first showed up, there was no way he could have overlooked her strong, beautiful facial features and bright blond hair. It never surprised him to see someone to statuesque and quiet as she was. When she passed over another piece of paper, he chuckled, "Aye, don't I know it." he stated before running a hand through his freshly cut hair. Well, it wasn't 'fresh', it was about a week or so long ago that he cut it, but it was still a drastic change from shoulder length hair that he felt weird still. When she stated that she just couldn't sleep, he furrowed his eyes brows, "Nightmares, again?" he asked, he had Heard Ellie scream once or twice on the bus and it was usually followed by him rushing to the bunk, only to see her sitting up and panting. Only once did he try to comfort her but all she did was push him away, "Have you got help for that, yet?"

She was surprised she wasn't that tired. Well, she didn't look as tired as Aengus. She sighed and ran a hand through her blonde hair. She should of went back to bed. There was no way that was happening though. They'd just come back. She tried to keep them from coming back. Her memories just fought their way through though despite how hard that she tried to force them out. They came back in her dreams and she didn't know how to deal with it. She tried sleeping pills but they didn't work. Her therapist had said they would pass eventually but it had been six years and they still haven't gone away. Ellie figured that it would all stop one day. When and where she had no clue. But to be honest, she figured they wouldn't. Too traumatic of a experience she tried to forget but she couldn't and that's how it was going to be. Ellie figured that being away from home and on tour would help though and it has. Except with the nightmares. But she wasn't having a panic attack every time she passed through somewhere familiar in town so that was a good thing right? Of course. .
She figured that telling him he could die wasn't really that nice but oh well. Might as well try and convince him that or something. He looked like he never got sleep though she was not the one to talk. She barely slept. Running a hand through her hair she caught sight of her reflection in the window and just turned her head. She was a pretty girl, she never noticed it though. She didn't put herself out there and she never tried to use her looks to her advantage. Ellie just sighed at his response, taking the paper. " You shouldn't wear yourself thin like that." She wrote as she sat back in her seat, her green eyes shifting from the table to him as he mentioned nightmares. She just sighed and nodded her head, before grabbing her piece of paper again and sighing as he asked if she gotten help. She just shook her head. "No and I don't need it" She wrote down, Aengus had tried to comfort her once. She wished she could of let him in but she couldn't. She just couldn't. It was hard for her to let anyone comfort her. |

It still shocked Aengus, every time she spoke, though it wasn't often. He always enjoyed the sound of her voice and got a little too excited whenever he heard it, but he always kept it on the inside. He knew he couldn't let his feelings get in the way, he wasn't ready for any sort of commitment or relationship. What had happened back home still haunted him and scared him out of any type of relationship. What if he was cheated on again? He didn't like being heart broken, nor did he like the rage he went into when he was so hurt and upset. He had hidden his ordeal from everyone in tour, no one knew he had been engaged and he liked it that way. That meant he could start fresh and be able to make himself a new life, one that would be better and easier to handle. Of course, he still kept in touch with his parents and siblings, missing them terribly whenever he thought about the fact he had left them behind. He did love them all dearly and missed all of them so very much; his family was all he had before his dad made it as a businessman.
When she told him he shouldn't wear himself thin, Aengus merely shrugged and looked at her in the eye, "If I want to get those girls off their feet, I canna stop for luxury, gotta keep pushing through." he explained and shrugged. Aengus was determined to have the girls headline one of these days and he was going to do it. He had to do it for them. As much as they pissed him off sometimes, he did love the girls and they were more than fun to be around. When she pushed over the piece of paper that told him she didn't need help, he backed off and nodded, "Alright, I just worry 'bout ye, is all." he explained, stating only the truth. Shrugging softly he leaned back and took a sip of his coffee, "So, you having any trouble with the gear? Unloading and loading up, I mean."

Ellie studied her coffee cup. twisting it in her hands before taking a sip, it wasn't that hot anymore and if there was anything that Ellie hated more than her brother it was cold coffee. She sighed softly as she leaned her elbow on the table, placing her chin in her palm. She was thinking a little, about what she had to do next and also convince her manager to sleep. He looked like he needed it badly. She felt her phone go off and took it out of her purse, looking down at the number. The words Do Not Answer displayed across the screen and she knew it was one person she refused to talk to. Ellie pressed end on the call and tossed it in her purse. She refused to answer any of her brother's calls. She wasn't going to talk anyways. Ellie took another sip of her coffee. Happy for once that she wasn't in a band. She would of never been able to hide what happened to her from everyone. Gossip queens and magazines would be digging up her past. You could search her name on the internet and that would be the first thing to come up.
Ellie rolled her eyes and pursed her lips together, taking the paper. "They'll be fine if you take a day off hun." She wrote, shoving the paper across the table and crossing her arms in front of her chest. Ellie sighed and just shook her head, uncrossing her arms and grabbing the paper again. "No need to worry. I can handle it myself" Badly one might add. She had done nothing to fix her nightmares. Ellie rolled her eyes again at him, giving him a small smile. "It's not that hard, I'm not weak." She said, her voice clear as a bell. She liked it when she saw the look on his face when she actually spoke and her hand was getting tired of writing and she was just all around tired of writing. Taking a sip of her coffee she just turned to look out the window again, watching people pass as her phone buzzed again and she put it on silent. |

As tired as he was, Aengus found himself giving his utmost attention to the girl sitting across from him; how couldn't he? As much as Aengus would like to deny it, Ellie was a very striking girl and was very hard to ignore. He would sometimes catch himself giving glances towards her and he scolded himself each and every time. He knew that he couldn't give himself to anyone emotionally, not right now. The fact that she didn't physically talk was also mysterious and added to that allure she had - she was almost magestic in his eyes. Running a hand through his hair, he pushed such thoughts aside and tried to pry his mind back to the fact that he needed to keep his distance from her. Aengus didn't want to be hurt again, nor did he ever want to hurt anyone like he had his ex-fiancee. Everytime he thought about possibly giving his heart away, he thought about what she had done to him and what he had done to her - he didn't know if he would ever be able to give his heart completely ever again.
Reading her words, he chuckled softly, "If you knew the girls like I do, they'd be lost without me - even for just a day." he explained; he didn't intend to sound cocky in the slightest, he just knew for a fact that the girls wouldn't know what to do with themselves. None of them would know when their signing was or anything like that. He figured it was evident that he was worrying about her, because teh next thing he read made his smile softly, "Aye, lass. I'll back off; but dinna hesitate to ask if you need someone to listen." he stated and nodded softly. He took a sip of his coffee, almost choking when he heard her speak - it always took him by surprise, "You need to talk more, you sound lovely." he stated and smiled softly, "So, I meant to ask, any of your idols playing this tour?"

Ellie figured that with the looks she had gotten on the way here, you would think she would feel like the best possible person ever. Truth was she didn't. She still felt like shit. She thought she looked like shit too most of the time despite being quite the looker. Ellie sighed wondering where the heck Kyle was today. She didn't expect to spill everything to someone she hardly knew. It was scary but he said he wouldn't tell anyone and he hadn't yet and she was almost to what she thought crushing on him. But she was not going to let that happen. Probably thought she was too fucked up for him or something. But she pushed the thoughts out of her head and let out a heavier sigh, it was louder, different from the softer ones, sounding like she actually put effort into the sigh or something as she stared at the table. Looking people in the eyes was something she found hard to do, so she just stared at the table.
Ellie took the paper and just shook her head, scribbling her response down before sighing and handing it back over, it had read that the girls were smarter than he thought and he was giving himself too much credit. The blonde smirked for a moment before shaking her head at what he said next, taking the paper from his side and scribbling the simple words. I'm fine, I'm always fine before pushing it back towards him. She figured that when he almost choked on his coffee it was because of what just happened. Of course, Ellie just shook her head. Ellie just shook her head. "Don't plan on it my hand got tired.." She said sitting back, yawning a little. "None whatsoever. The line up is diverse. But I like Hellbound Nation a bit. But still, nothing really catches my interest except for them." She said with a shrug, looking at her nails for a moment. |
